Dominican Republic- Santo Domingo & Las Galeras

1 spot left! Just opened up!

Engage your Spanish skills and encounter Dominican culture firsthand during this active, adventure-filled week in the heart of the Caribbean.
Stay in downtown Santo Domingo and visit some of the historic sites like Tres Ojos National Park. Then take a bus across the country to the countryside where beautiful beaches are within walking distance. Experience a day-long horseback riding excursion with a local guide and traditional cuisine. Stay in farm hostel accommodations in the countryside, and experience freedom riding on motorcycle taxis beneath the stars. Relaxation and tropical paradise await!
As we transition to the colder months and prepare for the holiday season, set aside some time for yourself to practice speaking conversation with the locals and enjoy relaxing in the natural beauty of the island’s beaches.
Frequently on this trip, English will not be an option. Immersion is one of the best ways to learn, practice, and cultivate your Spanish knowledge.
Anyone that has been studying Spanish for any length of time and at any level is welcome to attend this trip, even if you have never studied with me. There’s no perfect moment where you unlock Spanish conversational skills- it all starts with a little bit of courage, some basic Spanish knowledge, and an opportunity to put those together.
Your Inner Adventurer loooves to venture into the unknown with a small group- to experience unforgettable landscapes, make new friends, enjoy fresh caught seafood, plantains, and an abundance of fresh tropical fruits that are nothing like what you can get at the supermarket in the US. That inner adventurer will love zooming along under the stars on the back of a motorcycle taxi in Las Galeras, riding a horse down a steep hill to access a hidden beach, and drinking fresh coconut water right out of the coconut.
Imagine an entire week dedicated to Spanish, adventure, nature, culture, delicious food and drinks. Coming together with other adventurers and connecting through relaxing, sight seeing, and exploring through two different cities in the Dominican Republic. Encouraging one another to speak Spanish together and fill in the gaps of your own Spanish knowledge, forming a solid foundation of practical conversational Spanish.
As we prepare to spend the winter indoors in the Northern Hemisphere, let’s take in the sun and fresh tropical air together first. This trip is the first of many small group trips to Spanish speaking countries that I will organize over the coming years. We will have numerous opportunities to observe, question, and pick up local slang, colloquialisms, dialect, and accents.
What does it mean to speak Spanish?
It means appreciating the beauty of the language, traditions, and culture of those who share their language with us.
When you are in tune with the Spanish language, able to initiate conversation with Spanish speakers, listen, interpret, and remember their responses, you unlock the joy and beauty of the language and culture.
