Thanks so much for your interest in learning Spanish with me with personalized one on one online sessions! I’m looking forward to working with you! Below are some details of what to expect when working together, as well as helpful tools for you! Here are some things that other students have said about working with me.

Let’s chat either during the consultation or one of our first sessions about using the free platform Stickk.com to help you reach your Spanish goals and having me as a referee.

Scheduling:

Scheduling Policies:

You can schedule week by week or as far out into the future as a year from now. You will need to pay before scheduling, and use the code you receive after payment to schedule with.

You may not schedule within 24 hours. So, if you would like to book a session at 6 pm on Thursday, you will need to schedule that session prior to 6 pm on Wednesday. Cancellations/rescheduling with less than 24 hours notice may be charged as if the session was conducted normally, based on Hannah’s discretion. Cancellations/rescheduling with more than 24 hours notice are no problem at all. You can reschedule on your own through the scheduling email. Generally, you’ll find more available times the farther in advance you schedule.

Recordings:

For each lesson, I’ll add a link of the recorded video to the lesson notes document after the lesson. If the information you are looking for is not there, just let me know via email!

The video chat sessions are recorded over private video, so that only those with the link (you and me) can view them.

You will have access to all of these materials forever!

Homework (for 60 minute lessons only):

Homework can vary in difficulty and duration. Generally, I’ll include some translations from English to Spanish to review concepts we covered that day. There may be some optional speaking exercises, as well as composing your own sentences using a particular concept or on a particular topic. There may also be assignments to read articles in Spanish, listen to Spanish music, or watch a video in Spanish. Homework could also include review of a future topic we will cover. I generally send it out via Google documents within 24 hours of our lesson. I typically add the homework at the end of the notes from that lesson then share the document with you via email letting you know the homework has been added to the end of the document. When you have completed the homework (preferably 48 hours prior to our next lesson), hit the blue “Share” button in the upper right corner of the document and type in my email address hannah@speakbetterspanish.com  there. That way, I get an email notification that you have completed it. Once I have added feedback in blue, I will share the document with you again and you will get an email notification. If you have any questions on the corrections or feedback, we can discuss during our next lesson. I also highly recommend making flashcards with index cards to learn the new vocabulary that comes up during our sessions.

What to expect during your first session:

Typically, I prepare a Google document for notes for that session and add it to your folder shortly before the session. I’ll also share it with you so it pops up in your inbox. A few minutes before the scheduled time, open that document and click the link I will add to join the video chat. We can both type notes in the document during the session. I’m a patient teacher and I try to be very encouraging. I want to help you build up your skills and confidence with the Spanish language! Learn more about what to expect here.

I recommend having a beverage nearby, and usually headphones are helpful. You may even want to have a notepad and writing utensil nearby to take notes on your own, if you like. Having resources like 501 Spanish verbs, a Spanish dictionary, or a Spanish phrasebook nearby would be helpful. If we are doing 15 minute conversation session and you feel a bit nervous, having an alcoholic beverage right before (if it is responsible to do so) might help you relax and speak more fluidly.

What to Expect During the Free Consultation:

The consultation is an opportunity for us to chat and see if we are a good fit. I'll ask you a few questions about your Spanish studies, learning style, how I can help you succeed, and what your goals are. We'll test out Google Hangouts together, which we will use for our sessions, to make sure all of the technology elements are working well. You'll be able to ask any questions you may have about working together. I'll ask you a couple of basic questions in Spanish to gauge where we should start when working together. We'll discuss next steps and how to begin working together.

Payment:

If you are on a monthly subscription plan, remember that it will auto-renew with the same payment method until canceled. The number of monthly sessions will reset after each payment. You will get an email receipt of payment each time. Let me know if you have questions.
